IT'S ALL IN THE PROCESS

FOR OUR ORGANIC COTTON HOODIES AND T-SHIRTS, WE WORK TOGETHER WITH A PARTNER IN PORTUGAL. IN THIS FIRST STEP, THEY PRODUCE "BLANKS" - UNPRINTED PIECES - IN OUR OWN PATTERN. WE HAVE ALREADY VISITED THE PRODUCTION SITE SEVERAL TIMES AND WERE ABLE TO GET A GOOD IMPRESSION OF THEIR FACILITIES AND THE WORKING CONDITIONS. WE ARE VERY PROUD OF THE CLOSE EXCHANGE REGARDING QUALITY, DESIGN AND SUSTAINABILITY. THE PRODUCTION FACILITY RUNS ON SOLAR ENERGY.
WE TAKE OVER THE FOLLOWING STEPS IN THE PRODUCTION PROCESS - DYEING AND PRINTING. TO DYE WE ONLY USE ORGANIC DYES WHICH WE EXTRACT FROM FLOWERS, WOOD, ROOTS, OR NUTS, AMONG OTHERS. WE SCREEN PRINT ALL PIECES FROM HAND - WE CARRY OUT ALL STEPS INVOLVED STARTING WITH PREPARATION, COATING, EXPOSURE AND FINALLY PRINTING THE PIECES.

FOR OUR SIGNATURE HEMP PIECES WE MANUFACTURE COMPLETELY FROM SCRATCH. FOR THESE WE PURCHASE THE FABRIC AT A WHOLESELLER IN THE NETHERLANDS, WHICH WE THEN CUT, SEW AND FINISH.

WHEN IT COMES TO MATERIALS, WE ARE UNCOMPROMISING IN TERMS OF DESIGN AND QUALITY. THE FABRICS ARE ALWAYS SELECTED FOR THE SPECIFIC FINAL PIECE. AT THE SAME TIME, WE EXCLUDE TEXTILES THAT DO NOT MEET OUR SUSTAINABILITY STANDARDS. ALL PIECES THAT WE HAVE MADE IN PORTUGAL ARE MADE OF 100%-GOTS-CERTIFIED ORGANIC COTTON. GOTS - GLOBAL ORGANIC TEXTILE STANDARD - IS THE WORLD'S LEADING PROCESSING STANDARD FOR ORGANIC FIBERS. ECOLOGICAL AND SOCIAL CRITERIA ARE USED TO CLASSIFY AND EVALUATE A TEXTILE. IN ADDITION, ALL STEPS OF THE SUPPLY CHAIN ARE CERTIFIED. BESIDES OUR PORTUGUESE PRODUCTION, WE ALSO MANUFACTURE ENTIRELY BY HAND. FOR THESE PIECES, WE CURRENTLY FOCUS ON HEMP, WHICH IS BY NATURE VERY SUSTAINABLE. HEMP IS GENERALLY EASY TO CARE FOR AND CAN BE GROWN ALMOST ANYWHERE, WHICH LEADS TO SHORTER TRANSPORT DISTANCES - WE USE HEMP FROM EASTERN EUROPE. FURTHERMORE, ALMOST ALL PARTS OF THE PLANT CAN BE USED, MEANING: LESS SOIL FOR MORE YIELD.

UNDER THIS BUZZWORD WE AIM TO REDUCE WASTE IN OUR OWN PROCESSES AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE. WE CURRENTLY FOLLOW THREE KEY APPROACHES TO ACHIEVE THIS.

MADE-TO-ORDER: WHEN WE RELEASE A NEW COLLECTION, WE GIVE YOU THE OPPORTUNITY TO ORDER OVER A PERIOD OF ONE TO TWO WEEKS. AFTERWARDS WE START PRODUCTION. ALTHOUGH THIS APPROACH LEADS TO WAITING TIME, WE COMPLETELY AVOID ARTIFICIAL SCARCITY, UNNECESSARY OVERPRODUCTION AND WASTING RESOURCES.

UPCYCLING: WE USE FABRICS FROM OLD COLLECTIONS (WHEN WE DID NOT MADE-TO-ORDER YET...), PROTOTYPES AND RETURNS FOR NEW RELEASES. THIS WAY WE REDUCE THE WASTE OF TEXTILES AND CAN DEVELOP NEW PIECES.

GOOD FOR YOU, GOOD FOR US, GOOD FOR THE ENVIRONMENT, GOOD FOR EVERYONE.

CHANGE PACKAGING: PACKAGING, AND THEREFORE PACKAGING WASTE, OCCURS ON THE ONE HAND WHEN WE SEND YOU THE PRODUCT, AND ON THE OTHER HAND WHEN WE RECEIVE THE PRODUCT FROM OUR PARTNER IN PORTUGAL. ESCPECIALLY WITH THE LATTER, IT IS INDUSTRY STANDARD THAT EACH ITEM IS PACKED IN A SINGLE PLASTIC BAG. WE HAVE DECIDED TO DRASTICALLY REDUCE THIS PLASTIC CONSUMPTION. ALL OUR PRODUCTS ARE SHIPPED TO US IN VERY FEW, VERY LARGE PLASTIC BAGS, WHICH ARE REQUIRED FOR QUALITY ASSURANCE.

WE CONSTANTLY TRY TO FIND AND EMPLOY NEW PRACTICES TO REDUCE THE WASTE IN OUR PROCESSES - IF YOU HAVE AN IDEA, REACH OUT VIA INSTAGRAM DM
